The welding industry is not unlike other industries that have made the necessary changes to their systems in order to meet the standard of the current market. There have been many changes over time that have led to the modern welding systems that many businesses now use. Read all about modern welding systems below:

TIG welding

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, also known as gas metal arc welding, is a popular modern welding system. The process of TIG welding makes use of tungsten electrodes in order to create the weld. This type of welding technique is commonly used to weld thick stainless steel together, but it is also used to weld non-ferrous metals together.

MIG welding

Gas metal arc welding, commonly referred to as metal inert gas (MIG) welding, is another commonly modern welding system. This technique requires the use of a welding gun to apply shielding gas and a wire electrode to a metal. This heats the metal and allows it to be joined.

Stick welding

Stick welding (shielded metal arc welding) is a modern welding system that makes use of an electric current to create an arc between a steel electric rod and the material being welded. The rod is coated with a specific material that is vaporised during the welding process in order to create a shield around the melted material.

Flux cored arc welding

Another modern welding system that is often used by welders is known as flux cored arc welding (FCAW). It is commonly used in construction projects due to the portability of the equipment. this technique used semi-automatic arcs to quickly produce high-quality welds.
